Black Phoebe - Greeting Card
$5.00
Story
A Black Phoebe rests on a lichen-covered branch at the edge of a local wetland. She spends her days catching insects in flight, both bird and bugs are reflected in the mirror-still water as they swoop and dive through the crisp morning air.
Black Phoebes are members of the Tyrant flycatcher family, Tyrannidae, their name being a nod to their “tyrannical” territorial nature. These are small, agile birds who have short calls with only a few clipped notes, unlike true songbirds to which they are closely related. There are over 400 Tyrannidae species worldwide and nearly 20 of those are found in the Pacific Northwest.
