Great Horned Owl and Doug Fir - Fine Art Print
$15.00
Story
A Great Horned Owl sits up high in the boughs of a Douglas-fir tree. These large owls are easily recognizable by their yellow eyes, the color being an indicator that they are well adapted to hunting at night. They also have “horns”on their heads that are often mistaken for their ears but are just tufts of feathers called plumicorns that possibly serve to help them camouflage and communicate. A Silver-spotted Tiger Moth rests nearby on a tuft of needles and is a moth species that is highly dependent on Douglas-fir trees.
