Wish You Were Here
As I worked on this eagle I wondered what she's looking at far off in the distance. Perhaps the sun rising in the wide open sky that eagerly waits to catch her as she soars. Or maybe she's lost in her mind's eye taking in her own inner landscape. A different view entirely, yet infinitely expansive.
She shakes off the morning dew from her feathers before taking flight from her lofty perch, a trail of old pine needles spilling in her wake. She flies further further further, her eyes fixed on a view only she can see, a reverent secret whispered between pines boughs and tattered wings.
Species pictured are a Bald Eagle and Jeffrey Pine.
